Overthe past ten years, we've endured quite a few and several have evenpacked quite a bit of wallop 28 Days Later, Planet Terror, etc. There are several tangential plotpoints voice recognition systems, a B-52 with a nuclear warhead, afrustrated scientist that go nowhere but use up a lot of time gettingthere. In Evans City, a plane crashes on the hill releasing for six days in the water the bacteriological weapon Trixie that affects only human beings. A must for Romero fans. Overall, this is a fine movie and a must see for Romero fans. The Crazies is a verywell made film.
The American media of all shapes and forms would have had a field dayreporting over anything vaguely resembling this mess. A germ warfare bug is accidentally released into the water supply of asmall western Pennsylvania town named Evans City where it was actuallyfilmed. This gives us reason to think that there's more going on than, say, H2N2. It is just simple tense horror done right. Easily one of the better horror remakes I haveseen in the last few years. Having a horror film succeed on nearly every level is a raremanifestation these days; The Crazies is beyond slick, excellentlyacted, tense, is a remake that doesn't suck for once, and the to top itall? Last time I saw this film was on 04 July 2000.
There is an abundance of scarymoments, inventive gore, and even some very black humor. Italso had some solid chaos in it. You'd be crazy to waste your time and money on it. With his deputy, the sheriff does everything in his power to get hisbudding family out of hell in time. Unrelenting suspense, unforgettable imagery, and stunning fear.
A film I think that has some real issues at hand even now. The reality of the matter is by making those movies allthose years ago, he was virtually inventing two types of story thatwould be mined again and again in later decades in everything fromfilms and books to video games. Also, scientists are brought in to look for a cure for thevirus. I also appreciated that at no time does anyone, eventhe sheriff, have this superhuman ability to know what must be done andhow to do it. This is a moviewith something for everyone: for the gals, there's Timothy Olyphantwhile Radha Mitchell supplies the goods for the guys. Romero's film is decent, buthighly flawed.
In The Crazieshe starts you out with a very chaotic situation. The wonderful thingabout Romero's works is that he manages to take situations that might justbe distantly possible and make them an absolute chaotic reality. Perhaps even too well as some audience members maywonder where the rest of the world is when all of this is happening. Unfortunately, The Crazies wastes a good premise and decent actors. McMillan , their friend Clank Harold Wayne Jones , their new acquaintance Artie Richard Liberty and his daughter Kathy Lynn Lowry tries to cross the border of the town, but the escapees are hunted by the army. A couple scenes were a little cliché D.

It gets into a nearby town's water supply causing it'scitizen to go crazy, some of them homicidal maniacs. Romero revealed that the military subplot was only featured in the first act of the script, and the rest of the film focused on the survivors and their attempts to cope with what was happening. A few of thecitizens rebel against the soldiers and try to flee the occupied zones. It is funny how you reminisce on things from the past, thinking how good they are, but then suddenly realise on reflection they are not as good as you once thought. Romero's premise issimple but efficient: the malfunctioning and greed of the human race ismuch scarier than any fictional horror monster could ever be.
There are some unapologetically relentless sequencespropped by unbearable tension and horror and others of pure adrenalinefuelled mayhem and action. The acting is not that bad and the writing is very inventive and creative. Great movie that i can watch over and over and still be freaked out! I also thought the ending was well done. The story is very well set up and generallybuilds momentum at a nice pace. The Crazies is effectively scary, mixinghuman emotions with raw blood and gore and endless edge-of-your seatthrills. Another major plus is rather than telling the story from the usual teenperspective, the movie defies protocol and focuses on the adults. While I feel Breck Eisner's 2010 redux of The Crazies isn't anythingnew in this regard, I still found myself entertained over the course ofthe 100 minute runtime.
Some momentsare so intensely suspenseful that time seems to practically standstill. One day at a high school baseball game a local farmercomes onto a baseball field with a double barrel shotgun. Nothing is safein a Romero movie. Ten normal looking people running through a field with guns and a broom doesn't make this a scary or intriguing film but one that made me want to clean my bedroom. You don't feel like you're beingplunged blindly into the action. Soon, the town is in disarray and thing go from badto worse fast with the arrival of government forces who quickly cordonoff the town and become more terrifying then the crazies themselves.
Yet every once in a while a director willcome up with a clever story in order to make up for the lack ofinnovation in modern horror films. That's at the core of this film. These zombies are not like that if you can even call them zombies the infected 'Crazies' in this film aren't brain dead, they don't generally look any different apart from the slight rotting flesh, but lets ignore that , they don't particularly move any differently, and they can speak perfectly fine. And is the solution to bio warfare the dropping of an atomic bomb? This remake of the 1973 George Romero film sees the rural Iowa town ofOgden Marsh become unhinged when it's residents begin exhibiting oddbehavior, usually culminating in acts of violence. This is basically Olyphant's show, and heowns the screen when he's on.
One thing I liked about this was thatprecious time isn't spend trying to discover the reason for everyone'sbehavior; attention is focused on the survivors and how they react towhat's going on. Great movie that i can watch over and over and still be freaked out! I had no idea the film could look this good. But the man wasn'tdrunk, he'd just gone crazy. If you can get past the minuscule budget, you will find an interesting film here. Romero has once again created a unique movie utilizing a small budget and a large cast of mostly volunteers. There is plenty of bloody violence at times brutal and disturbing content, a little gore nearly invariably impeccably effectively used , and occasional strong language in this, and none of it is gratuitous. It was a very memorable low-budgetfilm and when a remake was announced, I was not pleased.
