Why not IE?

posted 13 June 2006

For those using IE, you must have found this site horribly ugly. It’s ok. I purposely didn’t do anything to make sure that it looks nice in IE. Heck I don’t even know how it looks like in IE!

Why, you’d ask. It’s because Microsoft can’t be bothered following standards. So, why the hell on earth should I follow theirs? Everything in this world (well.. almost) follows some sort of standards because we need them to function universally – measurement units, standard times, etc.

The same reasons for standard(s) above applies to programming and the Internet world. The World Wide Web Consortium have set various standards for browsers to follow so that developers’ lives are easier but guess what – Microsoft refused to follow. So, that’s why this site is 100% non-IE compliant.

The second reason is mainly because this is a personal site. So, there’s no commercial loss for me. Plus, I was too lazy to make it cross-browser compliant. Therefore, I decided to just let it be. :)

There you go. I hope the above reasons are good enough for you to start using Firefox. There are tons of other great reasons why you should move to Firefox. It has better security, better update cycles, better standards compliance and most importantly, LOTS of extensions that you can use! So, head on over to GetFireFox and grab your copy of Firefox today!
